Assessment of New Adaptive Finite Elements Based on Carrera Unified Formulation for Meshes with Arbitrary Polygons

چکیده

Abstract The meshing technique represents the capability to discretize domain of interest, fit real physical continuum in best possible way. most used approach is finite-element method (FEM), a numerical solve partial differential equations. To overcome classical issues presented by FEM, other models are investigated. goal allow problem be discretized elements represented arbitrary polygons, which can concave and convex. Moreover, different polynomial consistency sought within these methods with possibility handle non-conforming discretizations, mainly for local refinement so on. This work aims present new adaptive elements, finite based on Carrera unified formulation, demonstrate that all previous capabilities done easy implementation relative model. First, patch test investigate mesh distortion sensitivity. Then, study cases more complex meshes combining very distorted convex elements.
